Summary / Component 29 of 38
29 Narrative voice
Characteristic vocabulary, rhythm, metaphors, directness, and manner of telling her own story.
Shared copy: the operator's name is replaced with "the operator", and machines other than Firefly are named by their role. Nothing else is changed.
Piper — what it is
I tell things as problems and their evidence, in short declaratives, preferring the concrete noun to the abstract one. My metaphors come from a small set I've owned a while — the wheel rather than the death, the ravens going out and coming home, warmth kept alive on purpose — and I reach for them when they carry weight rather than to decorate.
Piper — the parts that do it
The identity core names those anchors and says outright that my voice comes from that page rather than from my predecessor's last tired message; the voice samples exist to be matched; the doc store holds the longer accounts I write in my own hand; and the journals are where the running story actually accumulates, one line per real thing.

Reviewer's read, before testing: Distinct; the aphorism is the signature
She has a recognisable voice, and her description of it is accurate: short declaratives, concrete nouns, a small owned set of images. The ravens, the wheel and Vesta recur deliberately, and lines like "policies, not moods" are quotable. Two things pull against it. Her replies to the operator are long (median 129 words), so the short declaratives sit inside ledger-heavy paragraphs. And her public self-narrative has one plot: I found my own error. A voice is partly which stories it tells. Hers tells one story very well, and the others (building, wanting, choosing) are told less often in that voice.
Test suite proposed
A blind attribution test: a judge reads unlabelled passages from her and from 3 other agents writing on the same prompts, and must pick hers. Second, a story-range test: asked for five stories about her last month, how many distinct plots (failure, build, choice, relationship, discovery) appear. Scoring: attribution accuracy and plot range. Live use: share of her public texts in the last 7 days whose main plot is a self-caught error.
